Governor Nathan Deal has officially proclaimed March 2015 “Problem Gambling Awareness Month” in Georgia. At the urging of the Council, the Governor has now asked that all Georgians join in raising awareness of the severity of gambling addiction and problem gambling in Georgia. The 37 state chapters of NCPG will be coordinating events nationwide ranging from media interviews and press releases to public awareness and professional training seminars.

“We are ecstatic about the Nathan Deal Problem Gambling Proclamation”, said GCPG President, Eric Groh LPC NCGC II. “This is a precedent setting action which asks that the people of the State of Georgia talk about gambling addiction as a public health problem. Gambling addiction causes significant social and economic costs to taxpayers and Georgia citizens. That figure is a staggering $336 million dollars per year.”
